Winter storm Uri is spreading snow and ice from the South through the Midwest all the way up to the Northeast
Winter storm Uri has everyone from Texas through Indiana all the way up to Maine buried knee deep in snow with ice
covering the roads.
The snow totals are expected to be somewhere between five inches to a foot of snow with the lesser amounts being in the South and the greater amounts being in the North.
Due to the freezing rain and sleet, everybody from Texas all the way up to Maine will have ice covering the roads, weighing down trees, and knocking out power lines.
Yup, there will be snowball fights in the yards, ice skating on the roads, but no streaming of ones’ favorite TV shows. It sucks! I know! But do you know who the folks are that this winter weather will suck for the most?! Texans, that’s who!
Texas is the state that winter storm Uri will more than likely hit the hardest with its wintry one, two, three knockout punch. The entire state of Texas, meaning all 254 counties, has declared a weather emergency.
As a matter of fact, the weather is so bad in the Longhorn State that President Joe Biden has issued an Emergency Declaration in order to help out the Texans.
Now, I know there are plenty of you who are saying, “If Texas can handle triple digit heat then they can handle single digit bone chilling cold and the sleet!”
The thing y’all have to understand is that Texas ain’t built “Rocky Mountain” tough. Texas is built “desert” tough which means it can handle the sun but not the rain, sleet, and snow. Therefore, Texas has to do what it has to do which is to get federal help in order to fight the winter that is coming.
Due to what The Weather Channel is calling a “vigorous jet-stream disturbance and a low pressure system spreading moisture into record-breaking cold air,” winter storm Uri will be gracing the South, Midwest, and Northeast with its presence after spending the weekend hanging out on the Pacific Northwest where Uri brought along 11.1 inches of snow and ice covering the roads.
Winter storm Uri won’t be causing much wintry hell in the South, Midwest, and Northeast for too long, though. Winter storm Uri will be moving out on Tuesday night which will allow for winter storm Viola to move in on Friday.
